Deputy Director, Strategic Partnerships
Intro
The Deputy Director, Strategic Partnerships role at Viamo involves leading the development, sale, and launch of digital engagement campaigns to address development challenges in emerging markets. The role requires driving growth and impact through sales and partnerships with development sector clients and donors. The ideal candidate will have experience in social enterprise, business development, and partnership-building, with strong leadership and communication skills. They will also be involved in pursuing innovative solutions, repeat partnerships, and country-specific opportunities to achieve sales targets and maximize social impact.
Tasks
- Lead the development, sale, and launch of innovative and effective digital engagement campaigns
- Drive growth and impact through sales and partnerships
- Conduct effective outreach to meet with clients and donors
- Design and launch effective mobile engagement projects with development sector partners
- Respond to Requests for Proposals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft compelling solutions and proposals
- Maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities and track engagement activities
- Work towards achieving sales targets
- Implement sales management strategy through tracking progress in CRM system
- Travel and lead at conferences and events with strategic partners
- Become a thought leader in innovative solutions
- Pursue repeat business and upsell opportunities with partners
- Respond to RFPs from partners
- Pursue sizeable RFPs and in-bound leads in countries
- Bookings: Margin value of secured contracts
- Report to Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in social enterprise, INGO, Mobile Network Operator, ICT4D, donor, or international implementer
- Proven sales/business development success with a minimum of $1M in contracts closed in the past 3 years
- Proven proposal writing and partnership-building skills
- Experience securing contracts from NGOs and UN agencies
- Entrepreneurial mindset and experience in co-developing ideas with partners
- Leadership skills and intercultural sensitivity
- Self-management, adaptability, and resourcefulness
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Experience in direct sales role at Viamo (desirable)
- Experience working with major bilateral donors such as USAID, FCDO, or EU-funded projects (desirable)
- Workshop facilitation skills and experience in design thinking approaches (desirable)
- Working knowledge of French, Portuguese, or other relevant languages (desirable)
- Measurable team management experience with intercultural sensitivity
