Head of Marketing (Founding)

• Positioning, narrative, and brand. Decide what category we’re in and what we make people believe — the honest answer today is “unclear, and it’s costing us.” We have a logo and a color; you’ll build the voice, the visual system, and the discipline to hold it consistent across DACH, the US, and LATAM.
• Product marketing. Translate “offline-first architecture with Zigbee mesh load balancing” into something an asset manager at a housing association can act on. Then do it again for a utility’s procurement team, in their language.
• Content and social. German and English, technical depth, no thought-leadership sludge. You own the channels end to end — strategy, calendar, and the actual posting — and you turn fourteen people with real expertise into people who publish, which is harder and more valuable than running the company account.
• Demand generation. Take over the paid acquisition we’re already running against the €500M BMV subsidy program, and own everything downstream of it.
• Events and field marketing. Power2Drive, E-world, the Wohnungswirtschaft trade circuit. Booth to pipeline, not booth to tote bags.
• Communications and PR. Select and manage our agencies rather than inherit them, and be the person a journalist at electrive or Handelsblatt calls back.
• Investor-facing narrative. During a Series A, marketing and fundraising are the same story at different volumes. You’ll work on both directly with the CEO.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in B2B marketing, including time as the senior-most marketer in the room — you set the strategy, you didn’t just execute someone else’s.
• Fluent German and English. Not conversational German — writing-a-press-release German. Our beachhead market is DACH and it will not be marketed to in translation.
• Technical, infrastructural products sold to conservative, procurement-heavy buyers: energy, proptech, industrial, building systems, mobility. You know what a twelve-month sales cycle does to attribution.
• Work you personally made in the last eighteen months — copy you wrote, a site you shipped, a launch you ran. Not work you commissioned.
• Opinions about positioning that you can defend against a founder who also has opinions about positioning.
• Comfort with the unbuilt. “We don’t have a process for that yet” reads to you as an opportunity rather than a warning.

• Builder mindset: You create the structures and systems that don’t exist yet instead of asking who owns them.
• Ownership mentality: You take responsibility for the narrative and the pipeline number, and you follow through without being asked twice.
• Automation-first: A team of one scales on leverage. You look for ways to remove repetitive work rather than just doing it faster.
• Builder of relationships: Journalists, analysts, partners, and our own engineers — you inspire trust and represent HeyCharge with credibility.
• Adaptable: You’re comfortable in a high-growth environment where the plan changes mid-quarter.

Who this role is not for

• If you want the team before you’ve done the work, this is the wrong seat. Day one the marketing team is you, and we’re not going to dress that up. There’s no ceiling here — as we scale this becomes a department with demand gen, brand, product marketing and comms reporting into it, and the person who built it runs it. We won’t hire a CMO over you. What we won’t do is promise headcount in an offer letter: the empire is available, and it gets constructed starting from a laptop and an empty content calendar.
• If your best work required an agency, a team of six, and a two-quarter runway.
• If you measure PR in impressions.
• If you want a brand exercise. This is a brand exercise and a pipeline number.
• If you need the org chart to be finished before you start.

Closing

In your first quarter we’d expect you to personally rewrite our positioning, ship a revised website in both languages, build the messaging architecture for the buyer types we sell to, get the content and social engine into the ground, and land us in two trade publications that matter. Keyboard, not brief.
