Student Assistant to Support Research Project on Radicalisation (m/f/d)
Intro
The German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) is seeking a Student Assistant to support the research project 'Monitoring System and Transfer Platform Radicalisation (MOTRA).' The role involves data collection, coding, data management, literature search, and other research-related tasks. The position is part-time (up to 10 hours per week) for a duration of 6 months with the possibility of extension. The student assistant must be based in Hamburg and will receive a gross hourly remuneration of €12.41. Proficiency in English and German, familiarity with research on radicalisation, and enrollment in relevant academic disciplines are required.
Tasks
- Data collection and coding of social media profiles and posts
- Data management of survey data
- Literature search and management using Zotero
Requirements
- Proficiency in English and German
- Familiarity with research on radicalisation and extremism
- Analytical and comparative skills
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Enrolled as a student in relevant disciplines at a German university
- Experience with social media data and survey data collection and analysis
- Knowledge of Python and R or Stata
- Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) or computational social science techniques
