Ihr Aufgabengebiet:
Die Stelleninhaberin oder der Stelleninhaber soll das Fachgebiet "Algorithmen und Komplexität" in Forschung und Lehre vertreten.
Der Fachbereich Informatik sucht qualifizierte Bewerberinnen und Bewerber für eine Professur im Bereich Algorithmen und Komplexität, wobei eine Anbindung an die algorithmische Verifikation wünschenswert ist. Es handelt sich um eine unbefristete Professur der Besoldungsgruppe W2, die zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt zu besetzen ist. Geeignete Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten sollten über eine nachweisbare, international sichtbare wissenschaftliche Leistung verfügen.

Unser Anforderungsprofil:
Wir erwarten exzellente und international sichtbare Forschungsleistungen, die sich in Veröffentlichungen auf hochrangigen Konferenzen und in Fachzeitschriften widerspiegeln (z. B. FOCS, STOC, SODA, ICALP, LICS, POPL, PODS, PODC, COLT).
Neben herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Qualifikationen sind Erfahrungen in der Einwerbung und Durchführung von Drittmittelprojekten sehr erwünscht. Wir erwarten von den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern eine Darstellung, wie ihre bisherigen Forschungserfahrungen und zukünftigen Pläne die vorhandenen Kompetenzen an den Professuren des Fachbereichs Informatik sowie an den angeschlossenen Forschungseinrichtungen am Campus Kaiserslautern der RPTU ergänzen oder erweitern. Erfolgreiche Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sollen eigenständige und kreative Forschungsprogramme entwickeln.
Von den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern werden zudem ausgezeichnete didaktische Fähigkeiten und Lehrerfahrung erwartet. Lehrveranstaltungen im Bachelorstudium werden in deutscher Sprache gehalten, während Veranstaltungen im Masterstudium in der Regel auf Englisch stattfinden. Insbesondere wird die Bereitschaft erwartet, sowohl Einführungsveranstaltungen als auch vertiefende Lehrveranstaltungen – insbesondere in den Bereichen Algorithmen und Komplexität – im Rahmen der Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge der Informatik zu übernehmen. Erste Deutschkenntnisse sind optional; es wird jedoch erwartet, dass Professorinnen und Professoren innerhalb von 1-2 Jahren nach ihrer Berufung in der Lage sind, Lehrveranstaltungen auf Deutsch durchzuführen.
Das Land Rheinland-Pfalz und die RPTU vertreten ein Betreuungskonzept, bei dem eine hohe Präsenz der Lehrenden am Hochschulort erwartet wird. Neben den allgemeinen dienstrechtlichen Voraussetzungen gelten die in § 49 des Hochschulgesetzes Rheinland-Pfalz geregelten Einstellungsvoraussetzungen.

Your profile:
We expect excellent and internationally visible research performance, expressed through publications of high-rated conferences and journals (e.g., FOCS, STOC, SODA, ICALP, LICS, POPL, PODS, PODC, COLT).
In addition to outstanding scientific qualifications, experience in acquiring and implementing third-party funded projects is highly desirable. We expect applicants to outline how their research experiences and future plans will complement or augment existing expertise present at the chairs of the department of computer science and related research institutes at the RPTU campus in Kaiserslautern. Successful candidates are expected to develop independent and creative research programs.
Applicants are further expected to have excellent didactic skills and teaching experience. Courses in the Bachelor's program are held in German, while courses in the Master’s program are typically taught in English. In particular, we expect candidates to be willing to teach both introductory lectures and advanced courses, especially in the areas of algorithms and complexity, in support of the department’s Bachelor and Master programs in Computer Science. Initial knowledge of the German language is optional, but it is expected that professors are able to hold courses in German within 1-2 years after their hiring.
