The Landesverband der Wasser- und Bodenverbände in Hessen is a corporation under public law that is committed to promoting water management, land cultivation and landscape conservation in the state of Hessen. The association is based in Griesheim near Darmstadt and covers the entire state of Hessen.
The mission of the Landesverband is to represent the common interests of its members and to promote water management in Hessen. It attaches great importance to the sustainable use of water resources and the management of water bodies to prevent floods and droughts.
The association is involved in projects for the renaturation of water bodies, such as the renaturation of the Weschnitz, in order to protect and preserve natural habitats. It also promotes initiatives for climate adaptation in rural areas, such as the Zukunftsforum "Land.Kann.Klima", which deals with challenges and approaches to climate protection.
The Landesverband der Wasser- und Bodenverbände in Hessen is a member of the Deutscher Bund der verbandlichen Wasserwirtschaft (DBVW), which represents the interests of water management at national and international level.
