The Adolf-Reichwein-Schule Nürnberg is a state-approved, reform-pedagogical all-day secondary school with approximately 330 students in the north of Nuremberg. As an all-day institution, it shapes school as a vibrant place of learning and life, where students, educators, and staff feel comfortable, appreciate each other, and grow together.[4]
The school promotes independent learning through open teaching methods, individual support, and project-based learning. Essential components include a comprehensive care program, close cooperation with parents, and enrichment of lessons through extracurricular activities and projects. Diverse festivals – at the school or in Nuremberg – and collaborations with clubs, organizations, businesses, and other schools shape school life.[4]
The innovative offerings include class homepages for secure student login, a digital media library with the student newspaper "School Stories" and podcasts such as "School Talks" from differentiation courses (Diff-Kursen) and projects. This content offers insights into the creative school life, such as interviews with personalities or reports on events like carnival celebrations.[1][2][9]
The daily Mittagstisch (lunch table) strengthens the family atmosphere: Freshly prepared, regional, and seasonal dishes are enjoyed together – including vegetarian options and adjustments for intolerances. The student company "Luchbox" provides fresh rolls, pretzels, and drinks during breakfast breaks.[10]
The core mission is: to create school as a space where everyone feels comfortable and learns from each other. Values such as appreciation, independence, and community are at the center. The school program anchors a pedagogy that unfolds individual potential and strengthens social skills.[4]
The school is supported by the non-profit Adolf-Reichwein-Schulverein Nürnberg e.V., founded in 1958. Members are mainly active and former educators. The board – led by Stefan Gräf, Ruth Johnke and Petra Weidhaas – manages the school, supported by the supervisory board.[7]
Sustainability is an integral part: The school recently installed a Photovoltaikanlage (photovoltaic system), which is highlighted in the student newspaper "School Stories" (issue 14, February 27, 2025). Regional ingredients, organic fruit buffets, and seasonal menus underscore the focus on environmentally conscious, healthy eating. Projects such as podcasts and student companies also promote entrepreneurial thinking and resource conservation.[9][10]
The Adolf-Reichwein-Schule combines tradition with modernity and prepares for a self-confident life – through creative, collaborative, and future-oriented education.
