Afghanischer Frauenverein

The Afghanischer Frauenverein e.V. was founded in 1992 by 12 Afghan women living in Germany to support people in their home country Afghanistan. Today, the association has 127 members, over 1,000 supporters, and more than 25,000 supporters from all over Europe. The association is committed to peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan, with a special focus on supporting women and children.

The association is involved in various projects that focus on humanitarian aid and development cooperation. The main areas include:

• Medical Care: The operation of seven mother-child clinics that provide care to thousands of patients each year.
• Drinking Water Supply: The construction of up to 90 wells per year to bring clean drinking water to remote areas.
• Education: The operation of five schools, including three girls' schools, as well as the awarding of university scholarships.
• Vocational Training: Training programs in tailoring and literacy for women.
• Emergency Aid: Quick and unbureaucratic assistance during natural disasters and crises.

The mission of the Afghanischer Frauenverein is to free families, especially women and girls, from need and poverty and to help them build a better future with dignity. The association follows the principles of self-help, sustainable improvement of the living conditions of women and girls, and support in rural areas.

The Afghanischer Frauenverein places great importance on sustainable development. The projects are designed to achieve long-term improvements and provide people on the ground with the tools to help themselves. The initiative for drinking water supply, training women in traditional crafts, and promoting education are examples of the association's sustainable approaches.
