ASB Ruhr

The Workers' Samaritan Federation Regional Association Ruhr e.V. (ASB Ruhr) is a grassroots democratic organized welfare association and aid organization that has been active since 1912. In 1998, the association was formed from the local associations of Bottrop, Essen, Hattingen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr.

The ASB Ruhr offers a wide range of services and offerings in various areas:

• Child and Youth Work: Daycare centers, family centers, and youth houses that provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young people[4].
• Rescue and Medical Service: Collaboration with the Essen professional fire department in emergency services to provide assistance around the clock[4].

• Social Psychiatry: Support for people with chronic mental illnesses or disabilities through day centers, assisted living, and social psychiatric centers[4].
• Care and Support: Outpatient care services, senior day care centers, and assisted living for elderly and care-dependent individuals[4].
• Refugee Assistance and Integration: Support for the integration of refugees and migrants[1].

The ASB Ruhr is politically and confessionally independent and aims to help all people regardless of their political, ethnic, national, or religious affiliation. The organization is committed to ensuring that people can maintain the greatest possible degree of independence and offers quick and uncomplicated assistance[1].

The ASB Ruhr is involved in various sustainable initiatives:

• Voluntary Engagement: Over 400 employees, including volunteers, full-time staff, as well as participants in the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) and Federal Volunteer Service, contribute to the success of the association[2].
