atmosfair

Atmosfair is a non-profit GmbH that was founded in 2004 from a research project of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, in close collaboration with the environmental organization Germanwatch and the forum anders reisen. The organization's headquarters is located in Bonn, with an office in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

The main mission of atmosfair is the compensation and reduction of climate-damaging greenhouse gases. The company selflessly and directly advocates for climate protection, aiming to minimize the impacts of air travel and other CO₂-emitting activities. Atmosfair offers a variety of services aimed at compensating for and reducing CO₂ emissions:

• Climate Compensation: Atmosfair enables individuals and companies to offset CO₂ emissions from air travel, long-distance bus trips, hotel stays, and events by investing in renewable energy projects and energy efficiency technologies.
• Synthetic Aviation Fuels: Since 2021, atmosfair has been producing synthetic aviation fuel ("fairfuel") using the Power-to-Liquid process, which is made from electricity from renewable sources, carbon dioxide, and water.
• Climate Protection Consulting: The company advises and supports businesses and institutions on their path to decarbonized economies.

Atmosfair is engaged in various sustainability initiatives:

• Renewable Energy: By expanding renewable energy projects in developing countries, atmosfair contributes to sustainable development and the reduction of greenhouse gases.
• Technology Transfer: The technology transfer within the compensation projects promotes the use of modern, environmentally friendly technologies in the host countries.
