The Berufsbildungszentrum am Nord-Ostsee-Kanal (BBZ am NOK) in Rendsburg is a leading Europaschule that has been implementing European projects since 1992, especially student exchanges within the framework of Erasmus+.[1][2] With around 2850 students and 165 teachers, the school offers a comprehensive range of educational opportunities, including all general education qualifications and vocational qualifications in over 40 professions.[1][5][8]
The BBZ am NOK is a partner in the dual training system and provides specialist and general education alongside training. In the first year of training (basic level), there are two days of lessons per week, and in the advanced levels only one; in some courses, such as Landesberufsschulen (LBS), block lessons take place.[8]
Occupational fields include a variety of areas:
In addition, there are berufsvorbereitende Bildungsgänge (BvB) such as AV-SH (Ausbildungsvorbereitung Schleswig-Holstein), Berufsintegrationsklassen (BiK), Deutsch als Zweitsprache (DaZ) and AVAQ/AVSHi. These prepare young people without or with a school leaving certificate for training through a high proportion of practical work (company internships, workshops); language certificates and the first general school leaving certificate are possible.[9][4]
The mission of the BBZ am NOK lies in specialist and general education, which takes into account the requirements of vocational training and practice. As a Europaschule, it promotes international skills through exchange programs and emphasizes teamwork, practical relevance and individual support - supported by teachers, special education teachers and social workers.[2][8][9] Values such as inclusion (e.g. DaZ classes since 2015) and a high proportion of practical work characterize the educational offer.[9]
Specific sustainability initiatives are not described in detail on the website. However, the BBZ am NOK integrates practice-oriented training in areas such as agriculture and structural engineering, which potentially teach sustainable practices (e.g. agriculture, resource-saving building constructions). European projects could include environmental topics, but explicit goals are missing in the sources.[7][10]
The BBZ am NOK positions itself as a central institution for vocational qualification in Schleswig-Holstein, with a focus on future skills in technology, agriculture and Europe.[1][5]
