The BEB in Norderstedt gGmbH (Bildung – Erziehung – Betreuung) is a non-profit organization that acts as an important cooperation partner for all Norderstedt primary schools and some secondary schools. Since its founding in 2011, the BEB has pursued the goal of comprehensively covering the care needs of children in a way that supplements school and family. It operates the open all-day program at all 12 Norderstedt primary schools as well as at selected secondary schools, thus offering reliable afternoon care[1][5].
The BEB's offer includes qualified care, diverse support and leisure activities, a healthy lunch, and a simple registration organization with fair conditions. The BEB works closely with teachers and parents to ensure the best possible individual support and guidance for children in their daily school life. The child is at the center of all measures as a unique actor in their own learning and development processes. The children are supported in developing their skills, learning from experiences and being prepared for their future lives[1][2].
The main mission of the BEB is to shape education, upbringing and care as an integrated triad and thus sustainably promote the personal and social development of children. Its values are based on respect, trust, appreciation and an inclusive image of humanity: The company welcomes diversity in terms of cultural backgrounds, abilities and personalities and actively advocates for the inclusion of all children, as inclusion is understood as a human right[2].
Sustainability at the BEB is not only reflected in the pedagogical work, but also in daily operations, for example through the provision of a freshly prepared, healthy lunch that contributes to the healthy nutrition of the children. In addition, the BEB promotes the sustainable personality development of children holistically through its diverse leisure and educational offerings. The non-profit structure and the permanent mandate in the public transport sector enable long-term support for families and schools in Norderstedt[1][5].
The BEB employs around 210 socio-educational specialists and cares for around 2,800 children and young people at 17 school locations in Norderstedt. Approximately 12,500 lunches are served weekly to ensure healthy nutrition in all-day operations. The comprehensive range of education, upbringing and care makes the BEB a reliable partner for families, schools and the city of Norderstedt, with the aim of creating the best possible conditions for positive child development[5].
