Berliner Stadtwerke

Berliner Stadtwerke GmbH, founded in June 2014, is a 100% subsidiary of Berliner Wasserbetriebe, a public law institution owned by the State of Berlin. • Electricity Supply: The Stadtwerke supplies approximately 32,300 customers in Berlin and Brandenburg with certified green electricity from renewable sources[1][3].
• Photovoltaic Systems: They are market leaders in the installation of photovoltaic systems in Berlin and have built over 210 systems since their founding[1][3].
• Wind Energy: With 13 own wind energy plants, they significantly contribute to renewable energy production[1].
• Heat and Cold Supply: In projects such as the Urban Tech Republic and the Schumacher Quarter on the site of the former Tegel Airport, they offer innovative heat and cold supply solutions, including combined heat and power plants, geothermal energy, and wastewater heat recovery[1].
• Charging Infrastructure: They establish and operate charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in private, semi-public, and public spaces[3].

Berliner Stadtwerke is closely aligned with the goals of the State of Berlin, particularly the aim of becoming climate-neutral by 2050. Their mission includes the exclusive production and distribution of energy from renewable sources and highly efficient combined heat and power plants. Nuclear and coal power plants are excluded by statute[1][3].

The Stadtwerke continuously invest in projects for renewable energy generation and have invested over 135 million euros in such projects since their founding. Sustainability initiatives include:
