BetterHelp is the world's largest online therapy platform, dedicated to making access to professional, affordable, and personalized psychological support easier. Since its founding in 2013, BetterHelp has helped over 6 million people worldwide improve their mental health and achieve their personal goals.
BetterHelp offers a wide range of therapy options tailored to the individual needs of users. After a brief survey, users are matched with one of over 30,000 licensed and experienced therapists. These therapists are qualified psychologists (PhD/PsyD), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW/LMSW), or state-licensed counselors (LPC).
Therapy can be done conveniently from home and at flexible times via text message, chat, audio, or video session. BetterHelp thus offers an accessible alternative to traditional in-person therapy. Users benefit from weekly live sessions, unlimited messaging with their therapist, digital worksheets, and interactive group seminars.
BetterHelp is committed to reducing the stigmatization of mental illness and making access to therapy available to all. The company works with over 100 non-profit organizations to provide free therapy to underserved communities. BetterHelp accepts HSA/FSA cards and works with major health insurance companies to make therapy more affordable for insured individuals. In selected states, it is possible to find a therapist who accepts insurance, which can reduce the average co-pay to around $23 per session. Financial assistance is also offered to reduce costs for low-income individuals.
BetterHelp places great emphasis on the quality of the therapy offered. All therapists are carefully vetted and must have appropriate academic training, state licensure, and at least three years of professional experience. Only 25% of applicants are accepted into the BetterHelp therapist network.
BetterHelp is not suitable for minors, people in crisis situations, or people who need therapy due to a court order. In these cases, other support services should be used.
BetterHelp is committed to social responsibility and ethical conduct. The company is committed to the responsible use of artificial intelligence and regularly publishes reports on the quality and results of therapy on the platform.
BetterHelp strives to improve mental health worldwide and make access to therapy available to all.
