Die Brücke Flensburg is a non-profit organization that has been supporting people with mental health issues and illnesses since 1980. Emerging from a self-help initiative, it enables those affected to fully participate in social life, promotes health stability and a life of Selbstbestimmung and satisfaction.[3][7]
The Leitbild of Brücke Flensburg emphasizes strengthening self-determination, ensuring high quality standards and designing the offers in a lively way. The participation of the users* is at the center in order to take individual needs into account and to create an empowering environment.[7][8] In 2005, the organization transferred from the association to a GmbH in order to expand its services professionally and sustainably.[7]
Die Brücke Flensburg offers a wide range of support measures that are tailored to the individual challenges of mental illnesses:
Betreute Wohnformen in the Duburg district: Five centrally located apartments with a meeting place and others nearby offer around-the-clock support, protection and security. Furnished rooms in shared apartments (up to four people) are specially reserved for women or men and are well connected to public transport.[4]
Tages- und Begegnungsstätte (TBS): Since February 2024, it has combined the former day center and meeting point. Here people experience community, take part in groups such as the creative or drumming group (by appointment) or enjoy a chat over coffee and cake. Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2–5 p.m.[2][5]
Qualifizierte ambulante Assistenzleistungen: Individual support for people with mental illnesses in their usual environment – alone, in a partnership, family or shared apartment. Goal: Independent living in a familiar social network.[9]
Weitere Angebote: Two meeting places, outpatient care, residential facilities, occupational therapy practice, support for parents with mental health challenges as well as job offers and internships (again in the TBS from 2026).[6][7]
These services build bridges to normality and promote coping with everyday life, social contacts and resilience.
A central Präventionsprojekt aims to promote mental health, prevent illnesses and Antistigma-Arbeit. It strengthens mental resilience, supports those affected in crises and prevents relapses – at all levels before, during and after illnesses.[10] Sustainability is reflected in the continuous further development, such as the TBS merger in 2024, and in the focus on long-lasting, user-centered structures.[5]
Die Brücke Flensburg combines commitment with expertise and makes mental health a tangible goal. With over 40 years of experience, it remains a reliable partner for inclusion and self-efficacy in Flensburg.[3][7]
