The Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA) is one of the largest property owners in Germany. Founded on January 1, 2005, it has a comprehensive portfolio of properties covering a total area of around 460,000 hectares and more than 38,000 apartments[1][3].

The main mission of the BImA is to act as an efficient and reliable partner for federal real estate services. It places value on sustainable and economical use of the real estate assets.

The BImA is committed to sustainable ecological use and maintenance of forest, open space, and so-called problem properties. Special attention is given to mobilizing land for the construction of affordable housing to support the federal government's goals in combating housing shortages[1][3]. Additionally, it promotes projects to reduce energy consumption, such as the "MissionE" program[2].

The BImA is organized nationwide into six operational divisions: Sales, Administrative Tasks, Facility Management, Housing, Federal Forestry, and Portfolio Management. It is subject to the legal supervision of the Federal Ministry of Finance and is led by a board of directors[1][3]. With around 7,000 employees at over 120 locations, the BImA is present and actively engaged throughout the federal territory[1][3].
