Christopherus Haus e.V. is a non-profit organization that has been supporting people with assistance needs in Dortmund, Bochum and Witten since 1964. Based on Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy, the association offers educational, work and housing opportunities for over 1,300 people of all ages with mental and physical disabilities in a variety of curative education and social therapy facilities.
The range of services includes inclusive Waldorf kindergartens, a children's and youth home, two Waldorf special needs schools, residential and living communities, outpatient assisted living, outpatient services for child and youth welfare, and the Werkstätten Gottessegen. This diversity enables the Christopherus Haus to accompany and support people in all areas of life.
The mission of Christopherus Haus e.V. is to "care for the soul - in life, in learning, in work". This means recognizing the special personality in every person, respecting it and promoting it in spiritual development. The basis for this is Waldorf education and anthroposophical curative education, applied with experience, calm and dedication.
The association values inclusion and participation and creates living spaces in which people with and without assistance needs can live together and learn from each other. Through a variety of activities and living together, there is the opportunity not only to think about inclusion, but to live it.
Economic action and a conscious use of natural resources are important aspects of the work of Christopherus Haus e.V., which pursues a consciously ecological orientation.
