The Centrum für internationale Migration und Entwicklung (CIM) is a renowned working group between the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Zentralen Auslands- und Fachvermittlung (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency (BA). Founded in 1980, CIM is headquartered in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main.
The main mission of CIM is to promote positive effects of global labor mobility to create better prospects for developing and emerging countries. CIM advocates for sustainable and fair labor migration that meets the needs of employers as well as professionals and their countries of origin. The values of CIM include partnership, personal responsibility, and the promotion of professionals to achieve development policy goals.
CIM is engaged in various sustainability initiatives:
CIM works closely with international organizations and German federal ministries, particularly with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is considered a flagship program for international labor mobility and is recognized as a best practice by the International Organization for Migration and the International Trade Union Confederation[1][3].
