DAKU
The Dachverband der Kulturfördervereine in Deutschland e.V. (DAKU), founded in July 2018, is a central platform that advocates for the interests and engagement of support associations and friends' circles from all cultural sectors in Germany. With around 300 members, the DAKU supports approximately 17,000 support associations and friends' circles in the cultural sector[5].
The main mission of the DAKU is to make the diverse civic engagement for culture visible, to network support associations, and to support their practical concerns and projects. The DAKU promotes the further development of management and communication strategies and advocates for a sustainable civil society in which citizens take co-responsibility for the preservation and development of cultural values[1][4].
The DAKU actively advocates for sustainability and social responsibility:
The DAKU is constructively accompanied and financially supported during its establishment phase by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Prof. Monika Grütters, Minister of State for Culture and Media, is the patron of the association[1].
The DAKU is a central actor in the German cultural landscape, making visible and supporting the engagement and diversity of cultural support associations to promote a vibrant and sustainable culture.
