The **Kinderschutzbund Ostholstein e.V.** is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational professional association for child protection, which is committed to the rights, protection and promotion of children, adolescents and families in Ostholstein and the surrounding area.[4][5]
With offers at **28 locations**, the association accompanies families in different life situations and combines advice, care, education and protection under one roof.[4] The central services include **daycare centers**, **remedial early intervention**, **family counseling**, **specialist advice on (sexualized) violence against children**, **family centers with early help**, **mobile remedial support**, **trauma pedagogy in daycare centers and family centers** as well as specialized help for children and adolescents in stressful situations.[1][4] This spectrum is complemented by facilities such as all-day schools and other educational offers that reliably support the everyday life of children and families.[3][7][10]
The focus of the work is the mission to give children a strong voice and to protect, strengthen and individually support them in their upbringing.[1][5] The association sees itself as a **lobby for children** and directs its offers not only to children and adolescents, but also explicitly to parents, guardians and families.[1] Values such as **child protection, reliability, professionalism, low-threshold access and participation** shape the daily work.[4][5] Support is often anonymous, confidential and unbureaucratic, for example through counseling and crisis services or through the **Nothilfefonds Ostholstein**, which quickly and specifically relieves families in acute emergencies.[8]
A special focus is on early and preventive help: The family center with early help supports young families, pregnant women and single parents with infants and toddlers, while remedial early intervention addresses developmental issues, diagnostics and support planning.[1] The work in daycare centers and all-day programs also follows this approach, in that children are accompanied in safe, stimulating and development-promoting environments.[2][3][7]
In terms of sustainability goals, **social sustainability** is primarily in the foreground: The Kinderschutzbund Ostholstein invests in early education, equal opportunities, stable family structures and protection from violence in order to create long-term positive development conditions for children.[1][4][8] Environmental and quality management is organizationally anchored, which indicates a structured claim to quality, responsibility and continuous development.[9] Overall, the association combines social impact, professional help and preventive child protection work to form a broad support network for the region.[4][5]
