The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gefäßchirurgie und Gefäßmedizin e.V. (DGG) is the leading scientific society for surgical, endovascular and preventive vascular medicine in Germany. It sees itself as a driver of science and innovation in the field of holistic vascular medicine. The DGG celebrates its 40th birthday in December 2024 and presents itself with a fresh, modern appearance.
The DGG promotes science and research, develops guidelines and offers certifications for vascular centers to improve the quality of patient care. Particular attention is paid to the training and further education of vascular surgeons to promote young talent and secure expertise in the field. The DGG is committed to career development, in particular through the Junge Forum, the Exzellenzakademie and initiatives to promote women in vascular surgery.
The DGG offers its members a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience, including through the publication of the specialist journal "Gefäßchirurgie" and the organization of congresses, events and certified courses. An event calendar provides information about important dates and training opportunities.
The DGG actively advocates for the interests of patients by providing comprehensive information about the vascular system, vascular diseases and certified vascular centers. The society is committed to ensuring comprehensive and high-quality care for vascular patients in Germany.
The DGG attaches great importance to the topic of sustainability and pursues the goal of making its activities more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient. The DGG commissions are important bodies in which members come together to work on central topics in the field, including dialysis access, hygiene, wound care, disaster medicine, climate and vascular health, conservative vascular therapy, hospital economics, artificial intelligence, guidelines, PAD and diabetic foot, perioperative medicine, phlebology, quality assurance, ultrasound, diversity and integration, further education as well as vascular surgical techniques and endovascular techniques.
