The Diakonieverband Hannover-Land is a diaconal organization that is committed to helping people in special and difficult life situations in the Hanover region. As part of the Protestant Church, the association offers a wide range of counseling, support and assistance services for people of all ages and in different life situations.
The core services include free advice and specialist services such as general social advice, the outpatient hospice service, spa mediation, migration specialist service, pregnancy and pregnancy conflict counseling, debt counseling and addiction counseling. A particular focus is on family work, with offers that support parents and children in a variety of ways, from support for families with newborns to offers to strengthen parental skills.
The Diakonieverband Hannover-Land also operates diaconal shops in various locations that are committed to the sustainable use of resources. These shops offer, among other things, second-hand clothing and initial baby equipment. Meeting places and multi-generation houses in Laatzen, Neustadt and Wunstorf serve as important contact points for people of different generations and cultures, promote exchange and offer a wide range of activities and advice.
Another important field of work is youth vocational assistance, which supports young people on their way into employment. The association also offers emergency housing assistance for people in (imminent) homelessness.
The Diakonieverband Hannover-Land is actively involved in various projects and campaigns, such as "Bücher machen Schule" (Books Make School), a handyman service and the "#wärmewinter" (Warm Winter) initiative. The "Woche der Diakonie" (Week of Diakonie) takes place every year, during which numerous events and church services draw attention to the work of the association.
The Diakonieverband Hannover-Land attaches great importance to sustainability and is guided by the global Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. This is reflected in various initiatives and projects that aim to conserve resources, promote social justice and enable good cooperation between generations and cultures.
Voluntary work plays a central role in the Diakonieverband Hannover-Land. Numerous volunteers support the work of the association and help to maintain and further develop the diverse range of services. Donations are also an important pillar to enable the work of the association and help people in need.
