Introduction and Mission

Die Bremer Stadtreinigung (DBS) is a municipal company that has been committed to waste management and urban cleanliness in Bremen since its foundation in January 2018. The DBS has set itself the goal of making the city worth living in by working on sustainable solutions every day. With a team of around 260 employees, various services are provided to protect the environment and support the citizens of Bremen.

The main services of the DBS include:

• Waste disposal: Professional emptying of residual waste, organic waste and paper bins, as well as bulky waste collection.
• Recycling stations: Operation of stations where various materials are recycled.
• Street cleaning: Cleaning of streets and public places, including winter services.
• Container sites: Collection of glass, textiles and other materials.
• Public toilets: Operation and maintenance of toilets in public spaces.

• Energy generation: The Blockland landfill generates energy from landfill gas and photovoltaics, which is fed into the regional grid.
• Environmental management: The landfill is EMAS and EcoStep certified, which guarantees high environmental standards.
