The Evangelische Akademie Loccum is a renowned place for socio-political debates, critical encounters and the promotion of democracy and peace. Since its foundation in 1946 by the Evangelisch-lutherische Landeskirche Hannovers, the academy sees itself as a platform for open and at the same time critical discussions of current social challenges. Every year it organizes over 80 events - including conferences, international conferences and workshops - that bring together experts from science, politics, business, culture and the church.
The interdisciplinary college of the academy develops a broad range of topics, which is divided into seven key areas: education and science, Young Academy, culture and media, church and religion, nature and the environment, politics and law, and business and social affairs. The academy promotes dialogue between different social groups and thus contributes to a diverse and inclusive discussion culture. Its events are open to all interested parties and offer space for lectures, confidential discussion groups and media work.
The mission of the Evangelische Akademie Loccum is to live social responsibility in the Christian tradition and to provide impulses for a more just, sustainable and peaceful society.
