The Evangelische Perthes-Stiftung e.V. is an established non-profit diaconal organization based in Münster, which has been the owner and operator of numerous social facilities in Westphalia since 1965. With over 90 facilities and around 4,500 employees, the foundation offers comprehensive support in various phases and situations of life, especially in the care and support of elderly people as well as people with disabilities, social difficulties or addiction [3][5].
The main portfolio of the Perthes-Stiftung includes stationary Pflegeheime (nursing homes), Tagespflegen (day care centers), Betreutes Wohnen (assisted living), outpatient Pflegedienste (care services) and Wohngemeinschaften (shared apartments). In total, it operates 34 Pflegeheime with more than 2,700 care places, 14 Tagespflegeeinrichtungen, seven residential offers for assisted living and nine outpatient Pflegedienste. This wide range of services enables individually tailored care and support services that promote both professional care and social participation [2].
The Mission of the Evangelische Perthes-Stiftung is based on Christian principles and diaconal values. It pursues the goal of supporting people in different life situations and needs with respect and humanity. A professional, appreciative cooperation and the promotion of self-determination of the people cared for are in the foreground [3][4].
Sustainability plays an important role in the corporate philosophy. The foundation designs its offers and processes sustainably by using resources responsibly and taking social responsibility towards its employees, clients and society. The integration into the church communities, municipalities and social networks also promotes sustainable networking in the social space. The promotion of employees is also of particular importance, for example through comprehensive representations and participations as well as perspectives for professional and personal development [3][4].
As a subsidiary, Perthes-Service GmbH secures the professional support area in catering, cleaning and laundry in order to further optimize the holistic care of people in the facilities [5].
The Evangelische Perthes-Stiftung is characterized by a clear diaconal orientation, a wide range of social services and a sustainable, public-benefit orientation. With an annual turnover of over 245 million euros, it is one of the most important care and social service providers in North Rhine-Westphalia and beyond [2]. Its strategic orientation is responsibly managed by the Stiftungsrat (Foundation Council), Vorstand (Executive Board) and honorary Kuratorien (Boards of Trustees) in order to ensure the long-term security and development of the diverse social services [3][4].
