The Evangelische Beratungsstelle Duisburg/Moers is an established counseling center that has been operating as a joint facility of the Protestant church districts of Duisburg and Moers since 1979 [4]. With two locations in Duisburg-Hamborn and Moers, the counseling center offers comprehensive psychological support for people in a wide variety of life and crisis situations.
The core mission of the counseling center is to provide people with psychosocial problems with help for self-help and to support them in coping with their difficulties [9]. The offer is aimed at all those seeking advice, regardless of denomination, nationality, origin or worldview. The work is subject to the statutory , which guarantees confidentiality.
The counseling center covers a broad spectrum of psychological and socio-educational counseling [4][6]:
Educational and family counseling: Support for developmental and behavioral problems in children, educational difficulties, relationship problems in the family, as well as separation and divorce issues
Marriage and partnership counseling: Psychological counseling for couples and individuals in relationship crises, personal problems such as anxiety and depression, as well as experiences of violence and sexual abuse
Pregnancy and pregnancy conflict counseling: Comprehensive support around pregnancy and childbirth, including information on legal entitlements and financial assistance
Specialized services: The counseling center has specialists with special skills in dealing with sexual abuse of children and adolescents as well as in supporting traumatic refugee experiences [4]
Early help: Counseling and support before and after birth for expectant parents and families with newborns
The team consists of multidisciplinary specialists, including social workers, psychologists and child and adolescent psychotherapists [2]. The counselors have additional therapeutic and counseling qualifications, which are regularly updated through training and further education. This professional exchange and continuous qualification ensure the high quality of the work.
In addition to the two main locations, employees of the counseling center are available on site in several family centers in Duisburg [4]. This ensures low-threshold accessibility for families. The counseling center also offers open consultation hours at various locations in order to have a comprehensive presence.
