The Fachhochschule für Finanzen des Landes Brandenburg (FHF) in Königs Wusterhausen is a specialized university of applied sciences in the public sector that, since its founding in 1991, has been preparing young talents for a civil servant career in the higher tax administration service.[1][2][3] With around 630 to 955 students, it is one of the smallest universities in Brandenburg and offers a unique dual study program that seamlessly combines theory and practice.[1][3][4]
The three-year program includes 21 months of theoretical studies at the FHF and 15 months of practical phases in training tax offices in Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt or the federal government.[2][5] Students enter into a at the beginning of their studies and receive a monthly salary.[1][4] Graduation with the academic title and the passed career examination qualifies for positions as civil servants on probation in tax offices - provided that positions are available.[5]
The study program is exclusively for prospective civil servants with training commitments from cooperating tax offices and is not freely accessible.[1][5] Applications are submitted via an online portal (July to November for the following year), with studies starting only in the winter semester.[3][6] Classes are held in small groups of approx. 30 students according to a fixed timetable, which enables personal support from lecturers.[4]
The FHF is divided into eight teaching areas that focus on tax law and related disciplines:[2]
This structure provides sound knowledge in tax law, which is applied in real cases.[2][10]
The FHF pursues the mission of enabling a socially responsible activity in tax administration: fair tax collection, legal advice and administrative action in the public interest.[6] Core values are security and future prospects (secure job, civil service status from day 1), practical relevance through a dual model and personal support in small groups.[4][6] Internationality is strengthened through cooperations, e.g. with the Staatliche Fachhochschule in Tarnów (Poland) since 2003 - including exchange programs.[1]
The modern campus in a green setting (in the middle of the forest, 30 minutes from Berlin) offers ideal conditions: cafeteria, library, leisure activities and dormitory places during the theory phases.[4][6] It is part of the training and further education center, which houses other institutions such as the Landesfinanzschule.[1] Annual info days invite you to get to know the university.[4]
Explicit sustainability initiatives are not highlighted in detail, but the focus on responsible administration and modern campus infrastructure implies environmentally conscious approaches (e.g. green location).[4][6] The FHF prepares for dynamic challenges such as digital tax law and remains practical through close tax office cooperations.[2]
The FHF offers a safe gateway to a tax administration career - ideal for motivated applicants with an interest in law, economics and public service. (approx. 2480 characters)
