• Non-hierarchical Research: It is committed to strengthening area studies and following the principle of non-hierarchical research.
• Science Policy, Epistemology, and Ethics: The Forum provides a framework for exchanging ideas on science policy, epistemology, and ethics and develops infrastructures and formats to test, implement, and communicate transregional research ideas and projects.

• Institutional Funding: The Forum receives institutional funding from the state of Berlin and additional financial support from various institutions and foundations, such as the Mercator Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
• Interdisciplinary and International Collaboration: By pooling specific competencies and experiences in projects and initiatives, the Forum promotes a sustainable and cooperative research culture.
• Knowledge Transfer and Public Relations: The Forum is engaged in communicating and disseminating research results through blogs, events, and publications to reach a broader audience.

• Board: The Forum is led by a four-member board consisting of professors from renowned universities such as Friederike Pannewick, Sérgio Costa, Andreas Eckert, and Barbara Mittler.
• Management: The office is managed by Georges Khalil, the Managing Director of the Forum.
