Frauenhauskoordinierung

The Frauenhauskoordinierung e.V. (FHK) is an association that has been committed to reducing violence against women and improving support for abused women and their children since its founding in 2001 in Frankfurt am Main and since 2010 based in Berlin. The association was established at the initiative of welfare organizations and works closely with the Federal Association of Workers' Welfare, the German Caritas Association, the Paritätischer Gesamtverband, Diakonie Deutschland, and the Catholic Women's Social Service Association.

• Networking and Support: FHK networks and supports women's shelters and specialized counseling centers across Germany in both professional and political terms. With around 275 women's shelters and 300 specialized counseling centers, the members ensure the support and assistance system for women affected by violence and their children[3][4].
• Professional Collaboration: The association promotes professional collaboration and consolidates practical experiences to integrate them into political decision-making processes and professional political discourse.
• Information Materials and Awareness: FHK creates and distributes informational materials, such as flyers in easy language and several foreign languages, to inform women affected by violence about protection and support options[1].
• Interpreting Guidelines: In collaboration with the Berlin Initiative for Good Interpreting, FHK has published guidelines for interpreting in violence protection contexts to promote culturally and trauma-sensitive communication[5].

The main mission of FHK is to promote the reduction of violence against women and to improve support for abused women and their children. The association advocates for the creation of a violence-free living environment and supports women in overcoming the consequences of violence and abuse. Transparency and adherence to non-profit principles are central values of FHK, as underscored by its membership in the Initiative for Transparent Civil Society (ITZ)[2].
