Groundbreaker gGmbH is a non-profit organization from Cologne that has been promoting education and environmental projects in the Global South since 2019. With initiatives like "Groundbreaker Talents" in Uganda, it supports young women in the IT sector and advocates for equal opportunities and sustainable change.
Groundbreaker gGmbH is a non-profit organization based in Cologne that has been acting as a bridge between engaged donors and local initiatives in the Global South since 2019. Our main goal is to contribute to a fairer and more prosperous world by building schools and supporting environmental projects. To date, we have initiated over 40 school projects worldwide and convinced numerous companies and individuals of our mission.
A central project of Groundbreaker is the "Groundbreaker Talents" initiative in Uganda. This program offers young women from financially disadvantaged communities the opportunity to participate in an intensive one-year training program in software engineering. The participants live on our campus during this time and fully immerse themselves in the training. This hands-on learning environment empowers them to start a career in the IT sector and provides them with a sustainable way out of poverty.
Our mission is to create sustainable change through education and targeted support. We believe that talent is universal, but opportunities often are not. Therefore, we are committed to promoting a more diverse talent pipeline in the technology sector while supporting the social advancement of the participants. Openness, diversity, and the promotion of equal opportunities are core values that guide our work.
Groundbreaker is strongly committed to sustainable projects tailored to the needs of the respective communities. Our local partners implement effective and sustainable projects that take a holistic approach. This includes supporting reforestation projects and revitalizing ecosystems. By promoting educational infrastructures, we create learning environments that have long-term positive impacts on the communities.
We offer companies and individuals the opportunity to actively participate in our projects by funding scholarships. These scholarships are financed by various companies, investment funds, and private individuals. Through our mentoring program, employees of these companies can be directly involved and accompany the talents on their journey. This not only fosters the personal development of the participants but also enhances diversity in the tech industry.
