The GSE Gesellschaft für StadtEntwicklung gemeinnützige GmbH (GSE gGmbH) has been active in social urban development since 1987. As a trustee of Berlin, the GSE permanently secures living and commercial spaces for disadvantaged groups, socio-cultural initiatives and people in difficult life situations.
The GSE gGmbH develops and promotes projects in the areas of youth welfare, welfare, art & culture, health & sport. It is guided by the interests and needs of the target groups and enables their participation.
Core tasks and fields of work:
Trustee administration: As a trustee of the State of Berlin, the GSE manages real estate and land at over 100 locations in Berlin and Brandenburg. The aim is to permanently secure spaces for social purposes.
Acquisition, development & management of real estate: The GSE acquires, develops and manages real estate to create needs-based living and working space.
Construction & Renovation: The GSE renovates and modernizes buildings, taking into account energy aspects and the needs of the users.
Consulting & Participation: The GSE advises youth and social welfare organizations, user groups and tenant communities and promotes their participation in projects.
Funding management: The GSE supports the application and management of funding for social projects.
Art and culture promotion: The GSE promotes art and culture projects and secures studios and workspaces for artists.
Health and sports promotion: The GSE initiates and supports projects for health and sports promotion.
Arbeitsraumprogramm: The GSE provides spaces for artists as part of the Arbeitsraumprogramm of the State of Berlin.
