The Hessisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Pflege (HLfGP) is a subordinate authority of the Hessian Ministry for Family, Seniors, Sports, Health and Care. It was founded on January 1, 2023, to strengthen and make the public health administration in Hesse more efficient.
The main mission of the HLfGP is to protect the health of the population and to ensure the quality of healthcare. It acts as a link between the health authorities and the Hessian Ministry for Family, Seniors, Sports, Health and Care. Important values are efficiency, cooperation and scientific foundation.
The HLfGP works closely with scientific institutions to ensure that scientific findings are implemented in practice. It promotes training and further education for the Public Health Service and supports the networking of actors in the healthcare system. By bundling responsibilities, the state health administration is to be made fit for the future.
The HLfGP is a decentrally organized authority with locations in Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Gießen and Dillenburg. This structure makes it possible to better take regional needs into account and to use efficient synergies.
