The hisa gGmbH is a recognized provider of independent youth welfare, which has been operating childcare facilities with a wide range of educational offers in Berlin since 2004. Originating from a parent initiative in 2003, hisa has continuously developed and currently cares for over 400 children at four locations in the districts of Lankwitz, Marienfelde, Lichterfelde and Lichtenrade.[1][6]
hisa offers Kindergartens and after-school care centers with kindergarten places (eligible for vouchers) as well as after-school care places, e.g. for children of the St. Alfons Grundschule. A total of 336 to 436 children are cared for at locations such as Blohmstraße (65 places), Kirchhainer Damm and others - the exact number varies slightly depending on the source.[1][5][6][7] The facilities are characterized by a : lovingly designed group rooms with mezzanines, climbing landscapes, cuddle and sleeping corners, research and movement rooms, Snoezel rooms and spacious gardens with playground equipment, raised beds and natural areas. Children can romp, experiment, garden and relax - their own little world that promotes discovery and movement.[5][7]
The pedagogical work follows the Situational Approach, in which children learn in real situations. Maria Montessori's guiding principle - "Help me to do it myself" - shapes the actions, supplemented by mindfulness, tolerance and a loving atmosphere in which social, peaceful group behavior arises "playfully".[5][7]
Through many years of cooperation with the St. Hildegardschule, hisa has extensive expertise in the integration of children with health impairments and disabilities. The coexistence of children with and without disabilities is a matter of course.[1]
The core mission of hisa is: to create facilities as places of early childhood development and education that offer all children equal learning and development opportunities - regardless of ethnic, religious or socio-economic background. The focus is on the life of the children and their families, supplemented by a holistic concept that includes children, parents and employees as a "positive whole". hisa creates an experiential space full of suggestions that promotes positive interaction and personal growth.[1]
Values such as Inclusion, tolerance, mindfulness and cooperative collaboration characterize everyday life. Teams of specialists, childcare assistants and trainees ensure qualified care.[1][5][7]
Consistent quality assurance is carried out through regular parent surveys, employee interviews and internal/external evaluations. The facility managers are supported by the provider in order to continuously improve high care standards and use them as an opportunity for progress.[1]
Explicit sustainability goals are not described in detail on the website. Sustainable aspects are indirectly incorporated, e.g. through nature and garden areas with raised beds that promote gardening and environmental contact, as well as the focus on resource-saving, child-friendly room design. hisa integrates ecological elements into everyday life to give children an awareness of nature and the environment - in line with the holistic approach.[5][7]
The hisa gGmbH (HRB 159910 B) as a non-profit organization embodies commitment to an inclusive, educationally strong childhood in Berlin. With a focus on individuality, inclusion and enjoyment of learning, it creates a wonderful world in which children can develop their future.[1][4]
