Schokofabrik

Das Frauenzentrum Schokofabrik, affectionately called "Schoko", is Berlin's largest women's center and a lively meeting place for FLINTA* (women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans and agender people) of all ages, different abilities, origins and sexual orientations. In the renovated buildings of a former chocolate factory in Kreuzberg, the Schoko offers a diverse mix of counseling, education, leisure and craft activities on 1,200 square meters.

The Schokofabrik sees itself as a place of encounter, exchange and mutual support. It offers free advice in the areas of social affairs, law, systemic counseling and pensions. In addition, there are offers such as German courses, a meeting place for education and counseling, a supervised shared apartment for young people, as well as a Repair Café and the possibility to borrow a cargo bike.

A special focus is on the promotion of self-help and self-organization. The Schokofabrik provides rooms for self-help groups and supports the establishment and development of new groups.

Under the roof of the Schokofabrik there are also various initiatives and projects such as Schokosport, a Turkish bath for women (HAMAM), the Genossinnenschaft Schokofabrik eG, the Schokowerkstatt – a women's furniture workshop –, the EKT Schokokids e.V., the Frauenkrisentelefon e.V., Casa Kuà (a Community & Health Centre für Trans*, Inter*, Queer-Personen) and OYA.

The Schokofabrik regularly organizes readings, workshops and information events on topics such as resilience, stress management, medical options for trans* people with a desire to have children and Black Feminism.

The Schokofabrik is only partially financed by public funds and is therefore dependent on donations and voluntary work. With a sponsorship, the so-called "Schokotante", or a one-time donation, the work of the women's center can be supported.

The Schokofabrik strives to create a discrimination-free space where all FLINTA* can feel comfortable and safe.
