JANUN is a statewide network of youth associations, youth environmental offices, project workshops, and independent groups in nature and environmental protection in Niedersachsen. Founded as JugendAktion Natur- und Umweltschutz Niedersachsen, JANUN has developed into a comprehensive youth environmental network since the 1990s.
JANUN sees itself as a political youth association based on grassroots democratic principles. The mission of JANUN is to raise awareness among young people for ecological and social issues and to demonstrate opportunities for action at both political and individual levels. The network strives to overcome discriminatory conditions and create a place of maximum voluntariness and respect for individual boundaries[2][4].
