The Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (JGU) is one of the largest and most renowned universities in Germany, with approximately 30,000 students and more than 100 institutes and clinics. It is the only comprehensive university in Rhineland-Palatinate and offers a wide range of subjects, from the humanities to the natural sciences.
The mission of the JGU is to promote excellent education and research, while maintaining a close connection between science and society. Values such as Diversity, Innovation and Sustainability are central to the university.
The JGU is strongly committed to sustainability, in particular through the integration of environmental and climate protection into its research and teaching. Some students have joined forces in the Sustainable JGU Liste für Klimaschutz und Nachhaltigkeit to promote these goals.
