The Jugendpresse Deutschland e.V. (JPD) is a youth-owned youth media organization that has served as an umbrella organization for 12 nationwide youth media associations since its founding in 2003. Based in Berlin and with over 15,000 members across Germany, the JPD is a central platform for young media creators.
The JPD sees itself as a network of media-enthusiastic young people that imparts journalistic skills with passion and offers an independent platform for engagement, exchange, and self-realization. The organization critically engages with the concerns and needs of young media creators as well as societal and media developments and promotes active and reflective discourse[4].
The JPD is the umbrella organization of 12 regional youth media associations and coordinates cross-border tasks. The organization works closely with other societal actors and has a board with prominent figures from media and politics[1][4].
The Jugendpresse Deutschland e.V. is thus a central player in the field of young journalism and media education in Germany, supporting and promoting young people in their professional and personal development.
