KJF was founded on June 13, 1910, by a small group of clergy and has since developed from an originally voluntary youth welfare association into a modern professional association[1][6]. Through a comprehensive reorganization, which was successively implemented from January 2020, the child and youth welfare facilities were strengthened and the administration was streamlined[3].
In the operational area, there is a clear separation between operational and commercial business. Chairman of the Board Bartholomäus Brieller acts as the board member for Social Affairs and Health and is particularly responsible for the child, youth, and disability facilities as well as the stakes in KJF's GmbHs (Behandlungszentrum Aschau GmbH and allrAUnd GmbH)[3].
