Die Katholische Kirchengemeinde Liebfrauen is a vibrant parish in the center of Bocholt, which was merged from several historical communities: in addition to the central Liebfrauen parish, the former communities of Herz Jesu, St. Paul, Heilig Kreuz, St. Helena in Barlo and St. Martin belong to it.[6][8] As the heart of the local church, it offers a wide range of religious services, including sacraments such as communion, confirmation and church services, as well as family-oriented offers and community events.[5][6]
The parish cultivates an open, inviting atmosphere in which believers participate in life events - from joyful celebrations to comforting moments.[6]
The main mission revolves around the proclamation of the Gospel, community building and spiritual guidance in everyday life and celebrations. Core values are charity, inclusion and living faith: "Dear sisters and brothers" - this is how many messages begin, emphasizing unity and joy.[6] The focus is on pastoral co-responsibility by lay people, similar to comparable structures with parish councils.[4]
Sustainability goals are implemented through initiatives such as the EineWeltKreis Liebfrauen-St. Paul e.V., which financially supports charitable activities, especially in the St. Paul area.[7] This reflects values such as global solidarity and social awareness, complemented by environmental engagement in the community.[3] The parish promotes fair world design and local aid projects, without commercial motives.
Liebfrauen Bocholt combines tradition with modernity: From nativity scene visits to innovative youth formats, a community is created here that invites you to discover and celebrate. It stands for ongoing pastoral dynamics and is an integral part of the Bocholt center.[1][5][6]
