About AWO Pflege Schleswig-Holstein gGmbH

The AWO Pflege Schleswig-Holstein gGmbH is a non-profit subsidiary of the AWO Landesverbandes Schleswig-Holstein e.V. and has been operating as an independent company since 2020. With around 1,600 employees, AWO Pflege SH is committed to the well-being of people in need of care and their relatives at 24 locations in Schleswig-Holstein and the Hamburg metropolitan area.

The company offers a wide range of care and housing concepts to enable a self-determined and individual life in old age. These include outpatient care services, AWO Servicehäuser, shared housing as well as WOHNpflege facilities with day and short-term care services and the social call. AWO Pflege SH operates 15 Servicehäuser, 25 outpatient care services and 4 residential and service centers. Day care places are also offered at twelve locations.

The mission of AWO Pflege SH is to accompany, care for and support people in their current phase of life in order to enable them to live a fulfilled and self-determined life. The services are tailored to the individual needs of those in need of care and their relatives. The close cooperation with the AWO Kreisverbänden and local associations as shareholders ensures a sustainable, needs-based and regionally oriented development of the services.

AWO Pflege SH attaches great importance to quality assurance and improvement. Quality management has been carried out according to the model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) since 2005. Regular surveys of customers, residents, relatives and employees serve to improve services and work and team structures in a customer-oriented manner. In addition, medical device officers are appointed in all facilities to ensure compliance with the Medical Device Operator Ordinance (MPBetreibV). AWO Pflege SH is a member of the Forum Pflegegesellschaft e.V. to promote the active exchange between member institutions and to represent interests at state and federal level.

Particular attention is paid to comprehensive and high-quality training. There is a nationwide exchange among the practical instructors, and there is close cooperation with three nursing schools. AWO Pflege SH actively supports its facilities and services in the implementation of current legislation and quality-assuring requirements through quality conferences and speakers.

AWO Pflege SH is also committed to sustainability and has initiated the "climate-friendly care" project. In addition, innovative projects such as KIWA (Artificial Intelligence in Wound Care) and CARE-AI (Development and testing of AI-based assistance systems) are being promoted to expand nursing practice and improve the quality of life of customers.
