The Kinder- und Jugendwohnhaus Am Mitteldeich is a private social and gestalt pedagogical institution for stationary child and youth welfare, which has been helping young people to redesign their lives since 1991.[1][2][4] Founded in 1991 and under the private commercial sponsorship of the freelance entrepreneur Torsten Jacobs, a state-recognized graduate social pedagogue and graduate social worker, since March 1, 2001, the institution offers a therapeutically effective everyday life in a rural-idyllic location in the middle of a bird sanctuary.[1][2][3][6]
The facility cares for up to nine girls and boys aged approximately around the clock, .[1][4][8] It is aimed at children and adolescents who cannot live in their family of origin temporarily or for the long term, and creates a stable that offers favorable development conditions.[3] The approach is , supplemented by gestalt therapeutic support for the pedagogical team. This creates an everyday life that specifically addresses and copes with individual problem situations - such as trauma or social challenges.[1][3][4]
Special support needs are addressed systemically and holistically (gestalt-oriented): Previous bonding relationships are taken into account in order to promote identity formation and build new, sustainable relationships. The focus is on bonding and relationship as a central pedagogical claim.[1][3]
The main mission of the residential home is to create a therapeutically effective everyday life that strengthens resilience and enables young people to develop their potential.[1][3] A core value is an interdenominational Christian understanding of values that is actively lived and communicated - characterized by openness, respect and charity, regardless of denominational boundaries.[1][3][4] This creates a family atmosphere in which relationship work is in the foreground and each resident is seen individually.
Torsten Jacobs as the sponsor and manager embodies these values through many years of expertise: In addition to his role here, he has been involved since 2001 and brings experience from assistance for people with disabilities.[2][6]
The dedicated team of educators, remedial teachers and curative education nurses is strengthened by regular supervisions, training courses and a fair duty roster system.[1][4] The facility is currently looking for reinforcements for permanent positions in the group service (reference care) in part-time or full-time (from 25–35 hours/week) in order to ensure the high quality of care.[1][4][5] With a staff of 1–10 people, the small team operates in a familiar and efficient manner in the education, training and science sector.[5]
Although explicit sustainability initiatives are not described in detail, the idyllic location in the bird sanctuary naturally contributes to an environmentally conscious environment that promotes recreation and closeness to nature.[3] The facility focuses on long-term stability: No vacancies currently available, which underlines the demand and effectiveness.[3]
The Kinder- und Jugendwohnhaus Am Mitteldeich stands for hope and change - a place where children and young people heal and grow through relationships. It combines professional pedagogy with heartfelt humanity and remains a reliable partner in youth welfare.[1][3][4]
