The Kinderhospizdienst Ruhrgebiet e.V. is a non-profit association dedicated to the comprehensive support of families with children and adolescents with life-limiting illnesses. Founded in 2018 with its location in Dortmund under the name "Löwenzahn", the association pursues a modern and needs-based support structure that penetrates directly to the families in their life reality via medical networks. The aim is to minimize emotional and practical hurdles in accessing help and to illuminate the previously largely unknown dark field of more than 96,000 affected families in Germany by 2035.

The main mission of the Kinderhospizdienst is not only to accompany affected families during the difficult time of illness, but also to give them closeness, vitality and hope. The focus is on trusting and individual support that is based on the specific needs of the families. The offer includes psychosocial support, practical help in everyday life, as well as emotional support for the siblings. Full-time and volunteer specialists work closely with partners from the healthcare sector to establish a nationwide and sustainable support network throughout Germany.

The values of the association are reflected in the guiding principle "We leave no child alone", which expresses the commitment to solidarity, respect and holistic care. The initiative focuses on the exchange between families, the promotion of self-help and the reduction of isolation in order to bring affected parents and children out of the social shadows. Dignity, quality of life and interpersonal closeness are at the heart of the work.

In the area of sustainability, the Kinderhospizdienst Ruhrgebiet e.V. is particularly committed to building sustainable structures and networks. A continuous expansion of the locations - including Dortmund, Bochum, Frankfurt am Main, Regensburg, Schwerin and the Westerwald - ensures sustainable regional care. The early involvement of volunteers and the strengthening of social responsibility through various fundraising campaigns and cooperations contribute to long-term financial security and structural development.

Additional media offerings such as podcasts and public events with prominent ambassadors promote public awareness of the topic of children's hospice work and strengthen awareness of the challenges and the courage of the families.

Kinderhospizdienst Ruhrgebiet e.V. thus stands for innovative, heartfelt and professional children's hospice work, which is dedicated to supporting families in exceptional situations with a lot of empathy and a modern understanding - driven by the goal of not leaving any child or family with a life-limiting illness alone.
