The Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen München e.V. (SkF München) is a non-profit association with over 115 years of tradition, which is comprehensively committed to women and children in emergency situations. The association particularly supports women and families who are affected by loss of housing, violence or criminal behavior, and promotes their self-help and social participation.
The SkF München offers a broad spectrum of social services and projects, including supported housing communities for homeless women, counseling for pregnant women and young families, offender aid, and a wide range of support services for women with placement barriers when entering the labor market. Around 400 full-time employees and over 280 volunteers work together in partnership in more than 35 specialist services and initiatives to offer tailor-made help and support. This includes, for example, practical help with apartment viewings, tutoring for children, care and social networking.
The association has a Christian mission statement that is reflected in the values of women's solidarity, non-violence, gender equality and democracy. The organization is structured in a grassroots democratic way with a membership that elects the voluntary board and an economic advisory board. The board and management are responsible for the strategic orientation and the implementation of needs-based assistance that takes modern realities of life into account.
Sustainability and social responsibility are an integral part of the work of the SkF München. The association promotes diversity and equal opportunities both for its clients and among its employees. With initiatives such as the Frauencafé Laetitia, affordable lunches for women in need or special offers for homeless schoolchildren, social cohesion is promoted and child poverty is actively combated. Voluntary engagement is recognized as an indispensable resource and systematically supported. The commitment of companies is expressly welcomed in order to jointly assume social responsibility and effectively strengthen social projects.
The SkF München sees itself as a competent and modern women's association that combines traditional social engagement with innovative approaches in order to sustainably strengthen women and families and improve their quality of life. In this way, the association remains an important social voice for the concerns of vulnerable women and children in the Munich region and beyond[1][3][4][5][7].
