The Klimahaus Bremerhaven is a globally unique world of knowledge and experience dedicated to the topics of climate, climate change and weather, making it a global pioneer climate experience world. Visitors experience an interactive journey around the world along the 8th degree of longitude, where they experience the different climate zones of the earth up close - from the icy Antarctic to tropical regions. You cross five continents and nine exemplary locations, meet people from different cultures and learn how the climate shapes their everyday lives. This makes the Klimahaus a fascinating place of learning and experience that is home to emotional and educational encounters[3].
The Klimahaus focuses on an integrative and sustainable energy concept with a focus on climate friendliness and energy efficiency. In addition to the use of certified green electricity from wind and hydropower, innovative technologies are used: The heat generated during refrigeration is used to heat other exhibition areas; the district heating from the local waste incineration plant is used for combined heat and power generation and partially converted into cold. In addition, 450 energy pile-like concrete piles, which are based on the low-temperature earth under the building, provide environmentally friendly air conditioning. In addition, a solar system on the glass roof feeds part of the energy requirement. This technically state-of-the-art and sustainable building concept is exemplary of the values of the Klimahaus: the responsible use of resources and the promotion of climate-friendly innovations[1].
The Klimahaus Bremerhaven was realized as a joint project of the city of Bremerhaven, the state of Bremen and private operators. It combines science, education and entertainment in cooperation with renowned institutions such as the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the Deutscher Wetterdienst. The vision of the Klimahaus is to make global climate issues understandable and tangible in order to raise awareness and commitment to climate protection. As a modern place of learning and a tourist magnet, the Klimahaus thus actively contributes to sustainable development and knowledge transfer[2][3].
Overall, the Klimahaus Bremerhaven combines technological innovation, scientific expertise and an interactive world of experience to create a unique climate competence center that inspires and informs visitors of all ages worldwide. It stands for a future that focuses on climate protection, education and sustainable management. The Klimahaus is therefore much more than an exhibition - it is a living platform for global responsibility and future-oriented environmental education.
