The Klinikum Wahrendorff is a leading psychiatric and psychotherapeutic specialist hospital with a history of over 160 years. It offers a comprehensive range of treatments for mental and psychosomatic illnesses, including general psychiatry, addiction medicine, gerontopsychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine with a focus on trauma and psychotherapy.
The main mission of the Klinikum is to promote people with mental, intellectual and multiple disabilities in the greatest possible independence. It attaches great importance to diversity, openness and appreciation in order to do justice to each patient individually.
The Klinikum is committed to promoting art and culture through the Dr. Matthias Wilkening Foundation, which also owns the company. This foundation supports hospitals with a focus on psychiatry and promotes cultural projects. In addition, the Klinikum operates subsidiaries such as the Dorffküche and the Dorffgärtnerei, which contribute to the sustainable care of patients.
In 2023, a new clinic building was opened in Köthenwald, which is considered one of the largest and most modern psychiatric-psychotherapeutic specialist hospitals in Germany. This new building combines all acute clinical wards under one roof and offers 349 inpatient beds and 30 day clinic places.
