The Marianum – Zentrum für Bildung und Erziehung gGmbH is a state-recognized, private Catholic school under the independent sponsorship of the Barmherzigen Schwestern vom heiligen Kreuz. Since 1925, the Marianum has offered a diverse range of educational opportunities for people of all ages, from 5th grade to senior citizens.
The education center includes a reform-pedagogical secondary school, a social science grammar school, as well as training in the socio-pedagogical field, including the educator training and the technical school for curative education. In addition, further education and training courses are offered for pedagogical specialists.
The Marianum sees itself as a learning and living space in which the individual development of the pupils and trainees is the focus in professional, personal and social terms. The school attaches importance to the promotion of self- and external perception through accompanied reflection, diverse dialogue and encounter formats, as well as lived co-determination and co-responsibility of the pupils in everyday school life.
The Christian image of humanity forms the foundation of pedagogical work and school culture. The basic attitudes of appreciation, openness, authenticity and trust characterize the cooperation. The school respects the dignity of each individual, respects their individual personality and promotes a culture of mindfulness - towards God, oneself, fellow human beings and the environment.
The Marianum is committed to sustainable development and takes ecological aspects into account in everyday school life. The "fair.nah.logisch" project of the Erzdiözese Freiburg, in which the Kloster Hegne participates, is committed to fair trade, regional products and ecological action. The preservation of creation is an important concern that the Kloster Hegne has been addressing for years.
The Marianum strives to prepare young people for a life in a constantly changing world. By promoting social and self-qualifications, teamwork, independent thinking and action, as well as a conscious value orientation, the pupils and trainees are enabled to orient themselves in society and take responsibility.
