The Landesärztekammer Brandenburg (LÄKB) is the professional representation of around 16,000 doctors in Brandenburg and a corporation under public law.[3][8][9] As a central institution for the medical profession, it promotes professional policy interests, ensures quality standards and strengthens health protection in the state.[3][7]
The LÄKB takes on a variety of key tasks that shape the everyday life of the medical profession:
In 2023, the LÄKB examined five further training centers and was involved in committees such as the steering group for electronic logbooks.[1] Further training includes specializations such as Spezielle Schmerztherapie, Unfallchirurgie, Klinische Pharmakologie or Infektionsepidemiologie.[1][6]
The main mission of the LÄKB is to protect the professional interests of its members, ensure high quality standards in medicine and strengthen public health protection.[3][5][7] Core values are Responsibility, Ethics and Collaboration: The chamber formulates the professional code of conduct, operates professional supervision and promotes voluntary committee work at the state level.[7] It actively positions itself in health policy, e.g. vis-à-vis draft laws of the Federal Ministry of Health.[2][7]
Climate and environmental protection are the focus of the LÄKB, as they are essential for health protection.[3][4] The chamber is intensifying its commitment: In 2024, it joined the HAP BB Zentrales Netzwerk Hitzeschutz and emphasizes the responsibility for the environment and public health.[4] This underlines its contribution to sustainable medicine and social resilience.
The LÄKB is dynamic and future-oriented: In 2025, it became a member of the Landesverband der Freien Berufe Brandenburg e.V. (LFB) again.[4] It discusses topics such as AI in radiology (e.g. Siemens innovations) and maintains networks such as ProMED for rural care.[4][7] With 30 years of history (since the 1990s), it celebrated milestones such as the new construction of the main office.[5][4]
The LÄKB combines tradition with modernity to ensure excellent care in Brandenburg - an indispensable partner for doctors and patients.[3]
