The
The Landesfrauenrat Hamburg e.V. is an umbrella organization that has been advocating for gender equality and the rights of women in Hamburg since 1916, continuously despite historical interruptions. Here are the key aspects of its mission and activities:
The Landesfrauenrat Hamburg e.V. is committed to realizing gender equality for all genders in all areas of life, as enshrined in Article 3 of the Basic Law. The organization resolutely opposes sexism, discrimination, and oppression and promotes a solidarity-based and equal society. A central goal is to give a voice to women who have become victims of physical, psychological, or emotional violence and to ensure that women are no longer disadvantaged at wage and leadership levels[3][5].
The Landesfrauenrat Hamburg e.V. has its roots in the "Stadtbund Hamburgischer Frauenvereine," which was founded in 1916. After its dissolution during the Nazi era, the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Hamburger Frauenorganisationen" was established in 1949, which was renamed Landesfrauenrat Hamburg e.V. in 1987. Today, the Landesfrauenrat represents over 300,000 women in Hamburg and is the largest voluntary and most influential women's lobby in Hamburg[2][5].
The Landesfrauenrat remains non-partisan, independent, and interdenominational and collaborates with a variety of women's organizations, associations, and political parties to achieve its goals. Through its work, the Landesfrauenrat Hamburg e.V. strives to continuously promote gender equality between men and women and to uphold human dignity and a spirit of solidarity.
