Landkreistag Baden-Württemberg
The
Der Landkreistag Baden-Württemberg e. V. is the municipal state association that represents the 35 districts of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Founded in 1956, the association pools the common interests of its members and is committed to maintaining and strengthening municipal self-government within the state constitution and relevant state laws. The Landkreistag acts as an important interface between the districts and the state government, the state parliament and other political and social institutions and associations.
The main tasks of the Landkreistag include representing the interests of the Baden-Württemberg districts to political decision-makers at state and federal level, as well as advising and informing members on organizational, technical and fundamental issues. Another focus is on promoting the exchange of experience and networking between the districts through working groups, workshops and joint events. This strengthens cooperation and enables a coordinated positioning on current municipal issues.
The Landkreistag advises the responsible bodies in the preparation and implementation of legal regulations that affect the districts and supports its members in questions relating to the organization and efficiency of the administrations. In addition, the association promotes public understanding of the tasks, services and challenges of the districts in order to enable a transparent dialogue between municipalities and citizens.
Under the leadership of President Landrat Joachim Walter and Chief Executive Officer Prof. Dr. Alexis von Komorowski, the Landkreistag with its office in Stuttgart is strategically positioned to ensure efficient services and comprehensive advice. The association attaches particular importance to maintaining the idea of municipal self-government and ensuring the democratic participation of the districts in state politics.
With regard to sustainability, the Landkreistag is involved in various initiatives to promote social justice, poverty reduction and social integration, which are also anchored in current funding periods such as the European Social Fund (ESF). This social dimension complements the organizational and political work of the Landkreistag and contributes to the sustainable development of the districts.
In summary, the Landkreistag Baden-Württemberg is a central player that strengthens the performance and self-government of the districts with its comprehensive range of advisory, networking and advocacy services, thus making a significant contribution to municipal development and social cohesion in the state.
