The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften – ISAS is a leading research institution specializing in the development of powerful and economical analytical methods for health research. With its innovations, ISAS contributes to improving the prevention, early diagnosis and therapy of diseases and to advancing personalized therapy.
The main mission of ISAS is to promote analytical sciences in the fields of materials and life sciences. It attaches great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration and the promotion of young scientists. The institute is organized as a non-profit association and is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states.
ISAS focuses on sustainable research that contributes to improving healthcare in the long term. It promotes the development of technologies that are efficient and environmentally friendly. Through cooperation with international partners, the exchange of knowledge and resources is promoted in order to master global challenges.
The institute is divided into three research departments and two application laboratories. The departments specialize in bioanalytics, biospectroscopy and translational research. The board, consisting of Prof. Dr. Albert Sickmann and Dorit Günther, strategically manages the institute and represents it legally.
