The association emerged from the women's and lesbian movement of the 1980s and 1990s and has continuously developed since then.
The main mission of LIBS is to counteract the causes and consequences of societal discrimination and exclusion of lesbian and bi+sexual girls and women as well as non-binary individuals. The association strives for a world where every person can live their sexual and gender identity without discrimination and exclusion. LIBS promotes the acceptance and equality of different ways of life and strengthens the visibility and self-determination of the lesbian community.
